Also the light will become warm in Turbo mode if this is used for an extended period. Any attempt to modify these lights will void the warranty. We know when you try to remove the Pill. Safety is our primary concern and always charge Lithium Cells in a safe place.
This is a great tool for hiking/walking in total darkness. I used this light for a night hike in the woods and no moon. It's got a very impressive range. Recharging is easy. The only caveat is that the on button can be activated sometimes if you put the light in your pocket or pack something on top of it. As the experts advised, back the rear cap off a little to avoid this. It's a permanent piece in my pack now.
Got my first flashlight 75 years ago... I am almost as pleased with my xl ultra 26650 as I was with that one in 1944.
As always to expect from CountyComm, this light is quite the lil powerhouse when it comes to size, lumens and battery size! Must have if you ask me! Now all we need are some compatible Delrin storage lockers for extra batteries.......
So the "Latest, Greatest" light is produced and of course I have to get one. Comparing this to the first gen 18650 model, this does kick out a brighter light in the Turbo mode, but with a penalty for the increase in weight. So you have to decide if the extra lumens make the extra 3oz /85 grams worthwhile. The beam is more focused and if you need a bright light and the 7 7/8 oz isn't too much then this is your torch! I did have a small issue when opening the case to peel the protective sticker off the battery. I noted a bit of rubber o ring hanging out where the tail cap and body met. I guess the o ring hadn't seated. Since the nice people at CountyComm had put a spare in the package this doesn't justify a ding in the star rating. The flash mode is a real bonus in this light and with the increased output, makes it a definite choice to carry on my canoe trip adventures.
I noted the comment made by another poster that the bulge of the USB port cover was an issue. My 2 cents:
My right hand found this cover to give me a solid grip spot for my thumb while the index finger rests on the rubber switch cover on the other side. In lefty mode (gun in right, light in left) that same cover rests out of the way in my palm while my left ring finger handles the switch duties. So, in conclusion, I think you cannot go wrong with this light.
