The GP-5 / GP-7 Desk Pod is a machined from a solid block of ABS, a thermoplastic polymer - ready to hold the GP radio along with a Ferrite bar antenna.
The Desk Pod doesn't power the radio and is purely a stand to stop your radio from falling over. Keeps your radio vertical and ready for action.
A special client requested the Desk Pod and these are surplus.

This little puck is a necessity if you have the GP radio. I makes the radio so much more stable. Reasonably priced as well. I love it!

I have a GP-5 radio. I have an earlier METAL DESK POD for that radio. I like the METAL desk pod better than the current ABS plastic pod for ONE REASON. The METAL POD actually works as an RF GROUND for the radio, and IMPROVES AM BROADCAST reception when the radio is supported in the pod! So, if you still have an older model METAL desk pod sitting around, I would love to buy one to go with the GP-7 radio I am hoping to buy myself for Christmas!
Radio is a little "tippy" without the stand, but quite stable with it. I had to remove the protective rubber "jacket" i bought with the radio to make it fit. It would be nice to have both in place. That's my only criticism.
Aside from the intended use, makes a good remote holder. Remote is upright, easy to grab and diserm from other remotes.
I can say alot about this radio,i have other radio's that cost more,had a lot that cost more, (I'am 71) . i play with this one alot. i need to find me a good indoor ant...
you would think this radio is cheap,Ha. its nice it feel good in your hand,its lite. but do not let that fool you,old school sw radio's heavy. this is nice.. awesome radio.and the price,unreal,the same price before the upgrades.your company does not sell junk,and you do not ripe your customers off.. your company is right on... Thanks..
