World's best digital shortwave general purpose, 4 -band shortwave receiver ( We think so... )
Amazing for emergency kits. It also makes an excellent monitor for when you're transmitting and tuning a HAM rig!
The new GP-5 SSB radio is made based on a continued request for an excellent quality general purpose information radio. These radios are re-modified for a specific client request with the help of Edison Fong PHD. We have a few left over to offer to our consumer preppers. Remember, always have a radio and be prepared, we are living in changing times.
CountyComm is pleased to announce the GP-5/SSB radio with excellent HF communications monitoring in a unique handheld form factor and at a great price. The radio covers medium wave 520-1710 kHz shortwave 2300-30000 kHz and the FM band. Unlike most radios in this price category, the GP-5/SSB provides LSB and USB single sideband reception. It has a very unique Easy Tuning Mode (ETM). ETM does more the usual ATS. It scans all frequencies without taking up the memory spaces. So you get quick access to all local stations. Great for the traveler. There are also 450 regular memories (100 AM, 100 FM and 250 shortwave) available for tuning into your favorite stations. Another unique feature of the radio is its removable high sensitivity external AM ferrite antenna. This directional antenna clearly enhances AM band reception. The CountyComm GP-5/SSB even employs DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology, improving clarity and tone quality. There is even an adjustable sleep timer.
Modes : AM, FM, SW, USB, LSB
Sterile Fiberboard Packaging Per Contract Requirements
Limited Supply From Surplus Contract
Warning: Some suppliers are offering aftermarket large ferrite bar antennas for our GP-5 Radios. The weight of the aftermarket antenna causes the AM Bar Antenna Input connector to break internally, losing AM reception. This will void your warranty.
--- Green Tip Antenna ---
Single screw to replace the antenna.
It's always a good idea to have a backup antenna.

I've had my GP-5 SSB (GEN 3) for a couple of weeks now and couldn't be more impressed with the build quality and operating features of this little receiver. The sound quality using decent headphones is very impressive ... especially FM. Really enjoying playing with the SW bands ... still trying to find some amateur stations using SSB, but overall the GP-5 displays excellent sensitivity to weaker SW transmissions. Lots of fun to play with! Thanks to CountyComm for their very prompt and secure shipment to me in Canada.
Items delivered quick & as noted on web. My only issue is w/the NEW GP-5 SSB Radio no matter what I do & I have read the quick steps, the manual, etc & have watched the video so many times I just can't get good reception no matter what I try.
GP-5 is a great little radio. I was looking for a small lightweight radio for my hiking backpack. Reeption is good, with aid of the clip on/wire antenna it’s a great boost to pull in far off weak signals. It’s a great addition to a hiking backpack or an emergency pack. Thought the price was fair and it arrived very fast. If I ever need another in the future I’ll definitely consider CountyComm first.
Form factor, reception, versatility even AM antenna being separate all amazing. Just wish there were SSB filters and frequency keypad. I assume the amazing form factor trades for keypad convenience and amazing price trades for SSB filters. I recommend this for any go bag. SSB SWL nerds like me willing to pay and carry a little more may consider the CCrane skywave SSB. This one lives in my main bug out bag and comes with me on some solo lunches, reserving the CCrane for home and weekend travel use.
I own 3 Grundig radios, and one CCrane, all cost more than my CountyComm, but my GP-5 SSB has them all beat for reception. Light weight, I can take it anywhere! I am so glad I made this purchase! My only regret I wish I would have waited a week, because it went on sale right after I got it.
