After his debut in our Solingen production line with the Haddock, Cox and 67, Jens Ansø from Denmark brings new models to our Boker Plus line. The Albatros boasts massive, 3.6mm thick titanium plates that form the basis for the frame lock. Between the plates sits the 5mm thick blade, made of VG-10 steel, which with its bulbous edge and slight hollow grind allows versatility and excellent cutting performance. The titanium pocket clip is reversible for tip-up or tip-down carry, and the large lanyard hole completes the package.

This CC Boker Albatros is a really cool little big guy. The beautifully stone washed titanium slab, pocket clip and VG10 blade give it depth & character while the gorgeous marbled carbon fiber scale makes it stand out from the crowd. The blue accents are nice touch as is the jimping on the blade and lock bar. It has a nice heft to it, but certainly not too heavy IMO. It feels great in hand and should be able to handle a lot of hard use/work with that 5mm thick blade. I really like this knife and happy I bought one before they sell out. I'm giving it 4 stars though based on a few things. I'm knocking off one star for the use of nylon washers rather than bronze phosphor ones, no hardened lock-bar insert, and for the tip up mounting holes being too low. At this price point these items that could have been remedied via Boker. Heck I'd easily pass on the lanyard and ti-bead for some bronze washers & a lock-bar insert. That being said this isn't your average EDC and I'm very happy with my Albatros. Looking forward to putting it to work.
This knife is very well made. The lockup is solid, it opens with a little flick (after oiling), nice satisfying click, centering perfect. The materials are great, it came sharp. You could buy it just to play with, opening and closing. It gets 5 stars because it is exactly as described and it is very well made.
If you are considering buying it you are probably a knife nut so the following doesn't apply to you, go ahead and get one. Exactly what role it fits in is not clear. It is heavy, but that gives it a solid feel. The blade is extremely thick, as advertised, so while the sharp hollow ground bevel will cut, if you want a slicer get an Opinel. The grip is secure but the handle is quite wide so at least for me it would be uncomfortable to do prolonged work with it. It will open boxes, cut rope, etc., but you don't need a 5 mm blade to do that.
But these points do not reduce the rating, it is great for what it is and gets 5 stars for being exactly as described and very well made. I really like the knife and enjoy using it; however, it is not the most practical model and so it won't be in my pocket all the time.
How about this: make a similar model with a blade 1/2 as thick, G10 scale to reduce the price? That would be in my pocket all the time.
Hefty, although lightened by carbon fiber scale on one side vs the all-Titanium model which you can buy separately. Packaged well. Blue anodized components (scale spacers, thumb stud, lanyard bead) are all consistent in color. Shame to not keep it as it’s a graduation gift for my nephew in Kansas. Like anything from CountyComm - I should have ordered 2...
