Special operations-light emitting diode (SO-LED™) a handy little LED light that clips almost anywhere.
These bright orange cased lights were manufactured for a local emergency services group to clip on to their vests and emergency equipment. The extras are available here.
This handy little light was redesigned by a members of a local special operations team to provide a small amount of light when and where they needed it like maps, documents, simple navigation, identification. This was quickly discovered by Paramedics as the answer to their low light documentation problems and word of it's multiple uses spread from there.
What make this light unique, is it's eight position 360 degree ratcheting rotary clip with strong jaw and thin rugged body.
Handy light to have around in times of need. Highly recommended.
I've used the ARES SO-LED lights for years. The rotating clip is very durable and the slide switch is quite secure. These lights are brighter than most keychain sized lights that take two CR 2016 batteries. You can remove the clip and attach a split ring to the light as well to make it even more versatile.
Absolutely excellent utility light. The 360 degree rotating clip works wonders.Works great on a hat and clipped to other gear. Works well as an ad hoc light source when attached to other equipment as well, such as an electric pallet jack in a dark truck trailer.
Great little light excellent tough clip. Hooked on to my buyout bag and will stay there.
I'm recently retired from a 30-year career in law enforcement and relied on the Ares SO-LED for many years. I worked graveyard and afternoon shifts for the majority of my career and this light was indispensable. Just the perfect amount of lumens to allow for note taking and other tasks without compromising night vision. I had purchased several during a CountyComm sale, and ended up sharing most with my colleagues, who appreciated them as much as I. The spring clip and pivoting light head allows for an unlimited variety of mounting applications from clipboard, shirt pockets, equipment bags, camera straps, whatever. I had an SO-LED light clipped to my ID card and lanyard at all times. Small, unobtrusive and always ready for use. Excellent battery life longevity. I still rely on these lights even in retirement as part of an emergency kit kept in my vehicles. A few even were "appropriated" by my wife and have found their way into her purse for EDC. Great light. Great price.
Have been buying these for years, handing them out to friends and family as keychain, reading, and emergency lights. I don't use mine all that often but I've yet to have the batteries run out. BTW, if you want to put it on a keychain it's easy to remove (and reattach) the clip by unscrewing a couple of screws.
