when i first saw this watch a year ago i wanted it. at the time it had a big extraneous cone crown which i did not like...and i'm sure many did not, leading to the current wonderful crown.
fixing the crown issue brings this piece pretty near to perfect. on many levels. i am a milsub fan, i collect military watches going back to ww2 german luftwaffe pieces, on thru every side, every war just about. i love divers. i've had a new rolex sub plus a buncho every kind of diver.
so from that perspective, i say this is wonderful. the thick chunker look is nevertheless done in a sleek manner, including tucking that screwdown crown in the niche between the bottom right lug and the case. perfect, a la seiko's skx...a brilliant design.
i love even knockoffs of rolex subs, when done right and with quality. this goes one better as it's a classic mix of 60s chunker deep dive watches with a domed magnifier glass and a thick corrugated grip uni bezel. while i do not recall anything like this watch any time ever, it does harken back to the 60s and very well could fool me as having been from the 60s if i didn't know better.
as a milwatch i love and respect the austerity tool nature of it. big ollech & wajs/sinn/damasko watch guy, so this is totally in that genre without at all stealing from any of them.
as for being a legit milwatch, you'd expect it to be beadblasted to cut down on reflection for theater use...however, upon receipt of mine i was impressed how the beautiful brushing accomplishes that dulling of reflection to what might very well be a spec required level.
perfectly appointed on a wide nato variant band, i take all my milsubs off their bracelets/straps and put them on a 3-piece bund strap. keeps the back fresh, and if you're in a nuclear explosion the watch will not burn a hole thru your wrist if it heats up (yeah, that would be your prime concern...heheh). but it looks ultra pro on the bund strap, and i love this watch.
i could go on & on, but i'm...
