I use this radio at work to catch up on my AM talk radio when I'm not in my car. I'm very pleased with the ease of use and the quality of the signal received. Add the stand and this is one serious fun radio. Thank you!
Looks great, solid construction, i love it! Its better then i anticipated, this thing is heavy.
Overall, a good place to keep my radio, solid build and sturdy. I have noticed that the tool marks in the corners are starting to leave scratches on the front of the radio. I still recommend this product though.
I struggled with the possibility of buying this for several months due solely to the price tag. Just didn't seem worth the expense. But, I finally caved in and bought it. Was it worth it? Absolutely! It is exactly as described and works perfectly to hold my GP-5 in the correct position.
When I bought the GP-5 radio, I got a great radio that I'll not soon tire of. When Countycomm came out with this Desk Pod for the GP-5, at first I passed over any idea of buying it. Then, I kept noticing occasions when I would set my radio down to listen, and have problems keeping the radio in place. I ordered this Desk-Pod, and have been enjoying it ever since it arrived. It's a perfect place to set my radio when listening while working. My AM antenna has a spot that's protected too. If you have the GP-5 and listen at all while at a desk, get this Desk-Pod.
Experimenting with the stand in finding best location in the shop for reception, I've observed that this metal stand seems to provide some inductive coupling when the radio is placed on a metal object, such as a file cabinet or NEMA enclosure, which slightly improves reception of distant FM broadcast stations.
The Desk Pod keeps my GP-5/SSB radio safe and stable on the desk top. It has a quality heft feel to it. I put a felt pad on the bottom to make things nice and smooth. A charger option would be a great feature.
When I ordered this, I didn't really read the description very well. I figured it was pressed aluminum. this thing is machined from sold BILLET. Black anodized and even has a place for the MF antenna! It's worth it.
