Nearly every edge on this knife has been softened by a chamfer, the ceramic barring surface on the frame lock provides buttery smooth action, with excellent detents.
Steel seems to have an excellent heat treat, no problems getting it beyond ‘clean shaving’ sharp using basic diamond stones up to 1500 grit a couple ceramics, and a Belgian Coticule. Just like all M390 and 20CV I’ve sharpened, seems to sharpen fast like a soft steel, but holds an edge like a super steel.
Was waiting on a smaller knife from Olamic and this was it!
Super light and unparalleled craftsmanship.
I picked up the sheepsfoot version mainly because it had quite a unique shape to it. I have big hands so normally try to stick with larger knives. I was surprised to find out that with the sheepsfoot blade there was plenty of blade to grab on to when perfoming any delicate cutting tasks. The handle also helps by providing plenty of grip points that line up when holding the blade this way.
I've been eyeing the Olamic WhipperSnappers for awhile, but they are usually priced a little higher than I'm willing to pay. Saw this one pop up at a reasonable price so I snagged one, and glad I did. I have not been able to put it down since I got it. Its the perfect size (for my taste) and the fidget factor is through the roof. Very sharp blade and the finish is one that I am less worried about damaging. I can see myself carrying this knife more than all my others for quite awhile now. It does make me want to get another (fancier and pricier) Olamic now though.
