The Heirloom Dual Sapphire Titanium Compass was designed by several graduate students on staff to guide them through life journeys. We wanted to make something that would last for several generations.
The frame is made from a single piece of grade 5 titanium. The top bail is free spinning titanium for easy carry and will not bunch up in your pocket. This design is perfect for laying on a map to see through to your declination.
Remember this compass is not a "moral compass"... that is up-to you. However it will point you North, South, East or West ;)
Indicator head is fully coated in Swiss Super-LumiNova® Grade X1, which is the brightest possible none radioactive phosphorous to date.

This compass is as pretty as it gets, and with sapphire glass and titanium shell as hardy. The latest generation and a recent year batch is what I bought and had shipped to UK. That process is extremely easy and along with CC guru any worries are taken care of. The compass is a lot, lot better than earlier generations of which I had one, and responds quickly and accurately. It is far less sensitive to not being entirely level like the previous ones. It is absolutely great and I can walk with it on a line in the fog or dark. I wear it on the wrist using CC stainless steel holder. This does not work if the watch pins are left in as they are magnetic. I failed to find a solution for this, and was going to return it, again CC could not have been more helpful. I have removed the pins, and adapted a strap to fit under the watch. It is perfect.
Just received this great-looking compass.
I'm expecting it to be really strudy as its components, sapphire crystal and Ti frame, suggest.
I expect, given its larger size, not to be easily (permanently) misaligned by magnetic fields from other gadgets (e.g., cell phones, flashlights, etc.). Time will tell... and if I can further edit this post, I'll try to report back on its performance.

CountyComm is one of the finest stores extant. Everything this outstanding family firm does is carefully designed, brilliantly engineered, and crafted to last from the best available materials. But my latest purchase happened by way of redemption. When the Heirloom Compass was first launched I naturally wanted the thing. The first generation was at once gorgeous and flawed; its needle didn't move altogether freely.... I sent the compass back with a careful explanation.
This very newest edition, the 3rd Generation 45mm Heirloom Compass, is a useful work of art that does what it should, smoothly point north with barely a hitch, though there is still room for improvement: the compass needs to be perfectly level to obtain an accurate reading, which means that you cannot simply set it down on a map--you must hold the thing with care to ensure dependable performance. But considering that this is the most elegantly designed pocket compass anywhere to be found, I nevertheless feel privileged to own it.
Great little pocket compass . Accurate , well made . Excellent quality . I’ll have to save up and get the wrist band .
