Was using a larger, longer, disconnecting keyring which often made my keyring setup overly bulky, but since I couldn't find anything better I just lived with it. Then I found this item and immediately bought several. I am not disappointed. It's profile is half the size of what I was using and, I believe, at least four times as sturdy. Thinking of buying several more to have just in case. Not my first CountyComm purchase and like all the others, this one has great functionality and finish. It is super-niffty.

This quick release keychain coupler works very well. It uses a locking mechanism where you pull on the sleeve in the middle section to release or engage the lock, so that the two parts come apart or lock together. It is very easy to use. This is very similar to the locking mechanisms used in a few Wiha locking bit holders that I have for bits that I use with a multi-bit screwdriver and a drill. When the keychain coupler locks, the two parts will not come apart. They are firmly held in place, no matter how hard you pull on them (ok, some of you supermen who are very strong may be able to pull them apart with your fingers if you are strong and determined enough, but I couldn't.). This is also how my Wiha bit holders work. They will not release a bit once it is locked into the holder, no matter how hard you pull on it, even if you use a pair of pliers to try to pull the bit out of the holder, unless you release the lock. In this respect, the keychain coupler seems to be very durable and reliable, although I would not use it in very heavy loads, especially where safety is at risk. The keychain coupler is very useful for attaching to a keychain a very small pen that has a keychain hole (I have a couple of these pens that were machined out of metal, one of which can be transformed into a regular full-size pen after it is released from the keychain, but that is another story), so that you can easily release the pen from the keychain when you need it and then quickly lock it back onto the keychain when you're done.

Very utilitarian, small, secure . . . Perfect to secure items that need separation on demand.

This is a compact, attractive, and well built coupler for key rings. One item carried on one of my key rings is a compact box cutter and this must be removed before entering some establishments. With this coupler the removal is simple.

The kwik release is a wonderful piece of gear. I used this to replace my magnetic quick release that would always attach to my carabiner. This one is my lighter with the added benefit of not being magnetic. It's also very easy to reattach with collar.
