The Heirloom Dual Sapphire Titanium Compass was designed by several graduate students on staff to guide them through life journeys. We wanted to make something that would last for several generations.
The frame is made from a single piece of grade 5 titanium. The top bail is free spinning titanium for easy carry and will not bunch up in your pocket. This design is perfect for laying on a map to see through to your declination.
Remember this compass is not a "moral compass"... that is up-to you. However it will point you North, South, East or West ;)
Indicator head is fully coated in Swiss Super-LumiNova® Grade X1, which is the brightest possible none radioactive phosphorous to date.

This compass is as pretty as it gets, and with sapphire glass and titanium shell as hardy. The latest generation and a recent year batch is what I bought and had shipped to UK. That process is extremely easy and along with CC guru any worries are taken care of. The compass is a lot, lot better than earlier generations of which I had one, and responds quickly and accurately. It is far less sensitive to not being entirely level like the previous ones. It is absolutely great and I can walk with it on a line in the fog or dark. I wear it on the wrist using CC stainless steel holder. This does not work if the watch pins are left in as they are magnetic. I failed to find a solution for this, and was going to return it, again CC could not have been more helpful. I have removed the pins, and adapted a strap to fit under the watch. It is perfect.
I've had my eye on this compass for a while now, and I am excited that I finally picked one up.
The construction is as superb as I have come to expect from CC. It looks and feels great in the hand.
Holy Cow! It’s just perfection! I have compared this to five other compasses and can find no flaws. It’s worth every nickel.
Looking forward to Compass Gen 4 and the sticky needle gets an upgrade. other than that it's a great looking compass. I'll use less expensive well known mapping compasses and have this for a non-adjusting declination back up! One star less for sticky needle : )
I travel around the world quite a bit and have added this compass to my EDC gear. So far it has been very handy, making sure the taxi driver isn't going in circles in Lagos, or locating my airdrop in the jungles of Panama. Solid, tough and accurate. Truly will become an heirloom. My grandson has his eye on it already!
