I am impressed with this compass globe

So, my idea behind buying this compass is to make an aluminum base that it can sit in and not get any interference from any electrical that is around it on my side x side. I am having a hard time just finding the globe of a good compass and I will see if it works, if it does then I will be ordering more and making bases for them.

Love it!

Sits in my EDC/search and rescue/bug out bag and will always be with me moving forward.

Cool gadgets

Last order was a mixed small order. The 10pkg of plastic cleaning sticks have been used multiple times from cleaning coins found metal detectors, spreading glue on the wives projects. The door stops are being used to keep doors open where the draft would sometimes slam close. Enjoy the random inventory County Comm provides. Mostly functional stuff although I tend to buy occasional novelties.

Good compass

I use it as a backup when I'm going to operate someone else's boat. The one thing that could be added would be a suction cup instead of, or in addition to, the adhesive backed Velcro.

Designed like a Direction of Travel Compass but actually normal compass.

Unfortunately have to give rating of 4 Stars or higher to get this review posted. Buyer beware. First, this compass is built very well and the UGM glow is excellent. My experience with compasses: I served 24 years in the US Army and designed, created, and trained many land navigation courses. So I am very familiar with different compasses and their purposes. Unfortunately, the design of this compass is like a direction of travel/Line of sight compass. Those compasses have the magnets reversed so when you hold them at eye level and take a reading from the side of the rotating dial you will see the azimuth of what is in front of you. This compass is designed similar to that style with a Red Line marker to take a reading of your azimuth/heading, but the magnet placement is normal similar on what you get with a compass you look at from the top down. This means when you hold it at eye level and take a reading from the side of the dial at the red line, the degree reading you are seeing is behind you, not in front of you. If you look at the pictures you will see a SUUNTO compass (Direction of Travel style) on the left and this compass on the right. If you read the dials you will see that the readings are different by 180 degrees. That's because this CountyComm compass should have the magnets reversed so the readings when viewed from the side will be correct. The only way to use this compass correctly is from the TOP Down. Hold the compass in the flat palm of your hand looking down onto the compass, take the reading at the 12 o'clock position of the dial of the compass. Unfortunately the dial is beveled and made to be read from the side so the numbers will be upside down. If they put the magnet on the polar opposite of the dial it would be an excellent compass but how it is built currently makes it 180 degrees wrong.
