There are two main options which can be used to coat steel, PVD & DLC coating. DLC or Diamond-Like Carbon, is a different way to use the PVD process. The main difference being that instead of spraying on a group of metals, DLC uses a form of carbon. Once the carbon is blasted onto the surface, it is cooled down extremely quickly, which is very similar to how synthetic diamonds are made.

DLC is a process which makes the steel harder and more corrosion resistant with a thin film of Carbon. Other benefits include increasing wear, scratch and corrosion resistance making its durability far superior to conventional coating methods such as electroplating or powder-coating.

The Maratac™ SR-35 Mid Divers Automatic watch is privately designed. The SR-35 is Maratac's newest mid size watch into the hacking ( stops the second hand when adjusting the time ) movement market.
The SR-35 features a unidirectional 1 hour timing bezel. This watch is made to exemplify the purest form of time, which provides a simplistic feel to the watch. The SR-35 utilizes a Seiko NH-35 24 jewel movement known for its superior quality, accuracy and of course it's hacking feature. This movement provides up to 40 hours of power reserve when not in use.
This mid size watch is ideal for both formal and casual events, and is built to last with it's robust sapphire domed crystal.

I'll be honest: I've been using a different Maratac automatic watch for ages. I saw this and doubted it could be better.
I was wrong. This watch blows me away! It's gorgeous, easy to read, and the glowing action really has some staying power. Worth every penny!
I've held many watches in the $300-$400 price range before and very few measure up to the quality in this watch. I bought the stainless version with day window a couple years ago in a limited run and I still get tons of compliments on it. I paired it with a Barton Elite Silicone band in orange for swimming. The millwork, brushing and etching on the case is superb. Having an AR-coated Sapphire crystal at this price point is very rare. The ceramic bezel is solid with very clean-cut edges. The drilled lugs are also helpful for switching bands quickly. Minor "cons" would be that it's a bit thick, but that's not a big deal for me, and at 40mm it might look a little small if you have huge wrists.
This is by far my favorite watch. Built like a tank and it's very simple. Not a very busy dial, which I love. The 24 jewel Seiko hacking movement is great and extremely precise. It will fit both a formal affair as well as your everyday activities, if anything, just swap the straps. Glad I could get my hands on one of these black DLC version.
Got this watch on a whim, having only discussed with a coworker about automatic watches. I picked up a 20mm blacked out metal link band on Amazon to complete this watch, and looks (and feels) phenomenal. It’s become my everyday watch.
The watch is robust and very classy to wear. I have got the black version. This watch is has special place in my collection.
