Coming Back Soon - Jump On The Waitlist Now To Be Notified!

Who wouldn’t want thread that will hold 40 pounds and is easy to carry, including our Uncle Sam? When Uncle Sam ordered Armada-Weave Thread for his Combat Engineers, his EOD people wanted some too. We had more produced, and now we have some extras, fresh from the mill.

Specs: 50 Feet, 0.288mm thick on a dispenser roll with thread cutter. (Don’t let the thin size of this thread fool you, you must have a tool to cut this thread.)

The dispenser is compact and resembles a small dental floss box with a removable roll. Other than the box, there is no similarity to dental floss.

Why Armada-Weave  Combat Engineer Thread?

  • Resistance chemicals
  • Low density
  • Invisible to ultra-violet light sources and thermal imaging devices
  • Floats on water
  • Smooth to the touch
  • Fire resistant and self-extinguishing
  • Can withstand extreme cold and hot temperatures
  • Biologically inert (doesn't cause a reaction to the human body)
  • Sonic velocity and acoustic impedance near that of water
  • High electrical resistance
  • Elongation at break is low, energy needed to break is high
  • Very high strength (15X stronger than steel)

On a weight-for-weight basis, Armada-Weave is 15 times stronger than steel and is 40 percent stronger than most aramid fibers.

Hardware Profile: Armada-Weave™ (UHMWPE)

The Science Behind the World’s Strongest Fiber

At the core of our gear is Armada-Weave™, a high-performance braid engineered from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE). Pound-for-pound, this is the strongest man-made fiber on Earth—delivering 15 times the tensile strength of steel and vastly outperforming standard paracord, all while remaining light enough to float.

Originally developed for ballistic armor, deep-sea mooring, and aerospace rigging, Armada-Weave™ is practically immune to moisture rot, UV degradation, and harsh chemicals. It does not stretch, it does not absorb water, and it refuses to snap under loads that would shred nylon or polyester.

Mastering Ultra-Slick Fiber: The Rules of Engagement

Because Armada-Weave™ is built for maximum performance, it behaves differently than standard cordage. UHMWPE molecules form an incredibly smooth, low-friction surface. While this makes the cord highly abrasion-resistant, traditional knots (like a basic Bowline or Square Knot) will capsize and slip under heavy tension.

To unlock the full potential of Armada-Weave™ on the trail or in the field, adapt your rigging with these three essential rules:

1. Multiply Your Friction

Standard knots rely on fiber "bite." Because Armada-Weave™ is incredibly slick, you need to maximize surface area. When tying terminal loops or joins, always opt for multi-turn friction knots.

  • For Joining Lines: Use a Double Uni Knot (Fisherman's Splice) with 5 to 7 wraps on each side.

  • For Anchoring to Hardware: Use a Palomar Knot or a San Diego Jam to ensure the slick fibers lock securely against your gear.

2. Leave Generous Tails

When a UHMWPE knot is subjected to an extreme load, the braid will microscopically compress and settle. Always leave at least 1 to 1.5 inches of tail beyond your finished knot. This provides a safety buffer, preventing the bitter end from pulling through the knot structure during high-stress sets.

3. Master the "Trap" (Splicing)

Because Armada-Weave™ features a premium hollow-core braided geometry, the absolute best way to utilize its strength is to bypass knots entirely. By using a small wire tool to perform a Brummel Splice, the outer braid acts like a Chinese finger trap. Under load, it constricts tightly around itself, maintaining 100% of the fiber's rated breaking strength with zero knot degradation.

The Takeaway: Armada-Weave™ gives you industrial-grade, aerospace-tested strength in a compact profile. Respect the slickness of the fiber, wrap your knots with extra care, and it will quite literally never let you down.

Always Fun!

Always fun to get a Mystery Package. Able to share the contents with my relatives. Missed the Ferrous Detector Plastic Cover, though.

Great for heavy duty hand sewing

I bought this to repair my set of Grundens heavy rain gear that got torn by worn trawl cable. Quick hand sew and topped with Shoe-Goo. Works great!
