almost perfect

I have a few county comm AAA flashlights the twisty no tail button, tail button non rechargeable with a magnetic tail cap and now this all in the pursuit of the perfect flashlight. This comes really close as it's small enough to disappear in a pocket, bright enough to inspect dark parts in the daylight, has a tail cap with memory. You sacrifice*some* length because of the USB C charging, which is a nice feature don't get me wrong, but I already have 2 sets of 10440s and swap them out every few days and it could be Ti for no reason other than it's cool. Other than those two subjective things this is the perfect edc flashlight for me.

Awesome but....

For as slim and lightweight as this thing is, it is a very good flashlight. The milling on the body is pretty nice. Bonus points for the dual direction (semi)deep carry pocket clip. For its size its definitely very bright with decent throw. After about a minute and a half of high setting I didn't notice the brightness pull back. Also, the lens gets sort of hot but the outside even right around the lens does not. The **** down/up charging port cover is very cool. The 3 brightness modes are good and right where they need to be and there is last mode memory. Clicky rear switch when fully depressed. You can cycle through brightness modes with "half presses"?

Which lands me to really the only complaint I have about this. The mode cycling is far too sensitive. I guess it takes <32nd of inch movement to cycle. If you carry this around in your pocket or clipped to it I would say it is very unlikely it will still be in the same mode you left it in. I might could let this slide if it had guards around the sides to help prevent accidental presses. Also the actuation of the switch feels extremely cheap. Hard to describe but its slightly rough and makes like a very faint silicone rubbing sound? I want to say squeak but that isn't really it.

AA lights even at the low end of the budget have a lot of really stiff competition. But all in all for an ~$25 light its worth having even more so if you are looking for something highly compact. If they did a little better with the tail switch it would be really great, mainly with the mode sensitivity. Also another big thing is no official waterproof rating that I could find is kind of not amazing but it does have O-rings and Maratac makes good stuff so I'm not too worried about a quick dip in some water. Anyways, I just wanted something lightweight and compact for edc and it seems like it will be fine for that.
