It you have the GP series shortwave, this is how you keep your radio operational.

One screw, and you can replace your antenna if it breaks. Keeping a spare antenna will save you the time and hassle. It's common sense. Get it!

Gp-5 radio antenna

Fits perfectly and super easy to replace.

It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

When you purchase any other radio, the telescoping antenna is often the most fragile element of your device; the manufacturer was smart enough to know that "things break", and the radio's design makes it very easy to replace this telescoping antenna with a single Phillip's-head screwdriver! Even if you never break your antenna, the extension and collapsing of any telescoping antenna will eventually lead to fatigue in the material it's made of, which can denigrate the antenna's performance (even in optimal conditions). In essence, if you're going to spend money on a radio, and there's an option for you as the end-user to service/replace your antenna on that radio, it's more than already paid for itself, because you didn't need to pay someone to do it for you (and then charge a markup on the part).

What I would really like to see CountyComm do is have this item included in this existing kit:

https://countycomm.com/collections/radio/products/gov-pack-countycomm-gp-5-ssb-gen-3-general-purpose-radio-limited-run

So that each kit would contain all the optional parts which make for a complete solution.

Between now, and when things get rotten, you've got an easy to carry and use radio that has more bands and greater sensitivity that equipment costing a lot more. While relaxing outside, it's just nice to have something that small which can actually pull in an overseas signal, or tune in the local FM station for news.

Amateur Radio Operators will also love this, because it's functional, easy to work with, and it just plain works!

People who work in Emergency Management, CERT and ARES/RACES/MARS will appreciate how functional, lightweight and tough this is, and that it can fit into their GO Bag without forcing them to sacrifice space or weight allowances.

What would also be really neat is a Bluetooth option built into this radio, so that you could enjoy greater discernment on those weaker signals and lower volume levels without waking others.

Great Product!

Very nice antenna.

The replacement antenna is very nice and will come in handy when the other antenna breaks. Nicely priced as well.

My children are the Destroyers of antennas; okay it's me, I admit it. Antenna #3
