I really really want to give this more stars. This is the absolute perfect design for me and it is made out of super high quality materials. Now the negative: This is the second one of these I have purchased (the Gen 1 and now the Gen 2). Both have a super sticky needle that if isn't located exactly in the proper place on the vertical spindle, the compass is completely unusable. I've had much less expensive compasses that have functioned flawlessly. Like I said, the materials are top notch but at $200 I expected a more functional piece. Perhaps a jewel bearing system and a spindle redesign would elevate this good compass into perfection. Also, the painted lines on the back of the compass wear off over time. Maybe move them to the inside of the back sapphire window. Make this thing more functional and it will be the greatest compass on earth!
Even though workmanship is awesome on the compass, I have to report that the white crossed lines are not centered evenly to the north, south, east and west. It is hard to notice that, but you have to look closely. Also, when you turn over the compass to the opposite side from the orange needle side, the needle seems to get stuck and doesn't move (rotate) smoothly as it should be. I highly recommend correcting these findings.
Nice compass. Back up pocket compass to go with my
Army compass.
First, it's pointed exactly. Like other compasses, it points to magnetic north. The exquisite appearance is the reason for me to buy it, and it does not disappoint. It feels explosive in the hand. Of course, it is also competent as a tool for identifying directions. It should be emphasized that if in the field, I would not let it be my only option for orientation, not that it is not good enough, but for safety reasons, I usually use a handheld GPS.
I recently ordered a compass and would like to express my satisfaction. The compass is a true masterpiece and has the perfect size. Despite having small digits, it can still be read very well. I can hardly put it down and am very satisfied with the quality. I would buy it again anytime and gladly recommend it to others.
Unfortunately, I did discover that purchasing the compass is associated with high shipping costs and customs fees. I am aware that these are external factors that the seller has no direct influence on.
Nevertheless, this masterpiece deserves a 10/10 rating.
