Pulled it out and it lit right up. What else would you need to know?
Great little items, travel well internationally. They go where a lighter might not. Function as advertised. It does need a lanyard hole, being so tiny. Cold, wet hands will drop it!
This is a very nice flint striker wheel, it went right into my bug out bag...
I always carried a Zippo but buy time time you need it the fluid has evaporated, and this is much lighter in weight...
wish this had a small hole in it to wear around neck or keychain. Maybe they can add a tiny plate with a lanyard hole? after playing around with this it will make a fire but only with char-cloth, cotton ball, dryer lint type tinder. If county comm could pair it with a small waterproof capsule for stuffing dryer lint in. you could put it on a key-chain and always have it with you.
The sparks are no where near as strong as a good ferro rod. but it could serve as a back up in case I lost my ferro rod. If I was in a real lost in the woods/ survival situation I would not want this as my only fire making option. You really need a fire when its cold/wet/dark and if this was the only thing I had that could be difficult. Yet better than nothing. The tiny size it what I really like here, and the fact it wont matter if it gets wet. it could be better if it was tweaked into an edc neck-chain key-chain.
