Q: Is Tritium dangerous?
A: No.
Tritium is unable to diffuse through these glass vials. Further, since Tritium is a low energy beta emitter, even if a tritium vial was broken, it is NOT dangerous externally (its beta particles are unable to penetrate human skin)
Tritium vials can be found in a wide range of common consumer goods such as watches, compasses, keychains, submarines, airplanes, gun sights, and tritium exit signs.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulates the use and distribution of self-illuminated tritium devices. Only companies with approved distribution licenses are legally allowed to build and distribute these tritium products. Glow Rhino works with a licensed partner with almost 30 years of experience working with tritium to legally illuminate its approved products.
Q: How long does Tritium last?
A: Tritium is self-powered, there is no need for batteries or an outside charge.
Tritium has a half-life of 12.23 years.
Love county comm stuff so much. It’s minor but oddly upsetting that my plan to use this black prybar on my county comm titanium split ring was dashed cause it can’t fit through the tiny hole in the prybar. I wanted a clean non jangly addition but now I’ll have to find a small split ring .
Pry tools with prying edge, bottle opener and lanyard hole. You can also use the pry tip as a screw driver or scoring point. Nice finish; I acquired one in black & blue each. Let's see how long the finish stays nice ... What sets these apart is the tritium element. Good to spot them in the dark or workbox. Nice items!
I mostly use it as a bottle opener.
It is a functional tool, however the tritium is fairly weak. It will show in a bag or something but don’t expect the glow to be visible if you “misplace it” on the ground.
Way over the top pry bar with smallish light tool. I love using my new tool to find my set of keys, look stylish, and bust open those packages! It is a nice upgrade from the ti-pry bar here as its just big enough and really sturdy tool.
