I don't normally collect challenge coins but 2020 seemed like a perfect year for this one. Everything about this coin is great. Quality. Size. Weight. Details. This will be a great reminder of the huge challenges that not only myself but the rest of the world had to face this year. Thanks!
Like many of us, I have a 'collection' of coins, most of them given to me, but a few; like this one, I found too irresistible and poignant. I bought about a dozen, and gave most away, considering buying more, but at $20 each, it's a stretch. I've helped have coins be made for units/organizations, and a typical coin about this size/detail cost us about half their asking price.
I also asked the (terrific folks at CountyCOMM) a couple times about one specific design feature, the three stripes on the 'black swan'; never receiving an answer. Not even an explanation where the design came from and that they didn't know. Had I received a reply, I would have been tempted to also ask why the globe map was primarily focused on S.America. Interesting things to know, if there is a rhyme or reason; but if not, that's ok too. Just asking. Not receiving even a 'dunno' answer is kinda a bummer when you ask twice.
Typically when you give someone a coin, there's a bit of a back story; this is the element of this coin that's missing. So 4-stars. You should still buy one, it's a really high quality, and very cool coin. :D
