I have this external antenna a very handy item as we are some distance from most of the medium wave radio stations in our area. Some of the medium wave stations are over 130Km away from where I live and the reception using the internal antenna is really poor but with the external antenna, the coil system makes listening really easy. 130Km is approximately 80miles.
Adapted this antenna improving the AM Medium Wave commercial radio reception for a broadband Software Defined Radio using "bender gender" adaptors. It works well for receiving local stations without having to use a long wire or much larger ferrite bar antenna. 3.5 MM plug makes adapting this antenna to a BNC antenna connector easily.
Without the external antenna my GP5-SSB received the nearby strong stations; with the external antenna it can pick up considerably more stations at greater distances.
Original works GREAT! Still using it but did break it and repaired with BONDIC. Thought that I should purchase a new one!!
