The original government use is unknown for this product. We have a very limited overrun of the Delrin® Ultimate EDC Capsule (Waterproof). We are not quite sure what Uncle Sam is putting in his lightweight Delrin® capsules, but we are using ours to keep small important items close and secure. Brand new, never used, overrun from government contract.

I half filled it with some Dawn detergent and water. Let it slosh around for a couple of nights. No residual smell whatsoever. If you like the dang thing, get it. Odor is a non issue.
I wanted to get one before. I decided on two. I don't know what to put in them yet, maybe spare batteries, cash, or small stuff. They seem really sturdy and I like the size. Just enough to carry in a pack.
Perhaps Mike and The County Comm Crew can tell us why this thing stinks to high heaven? I bought the Derlin 21700 Locker along with The EDC Capsule and I washed both with Dawn Dish Soap, aired out overnight and they still stunk! I then filled both with dark roast ground coffee, capped it and let it sit for 48 hours and it seems to have done the trick.
I was surprised at how big it was. It can hold a lot of shit. It seals up securely and is light weight. Came with a funky smell inside so I'll try and air it out.
Got it without a purpose in mind, but I'm sure it will have a lot of uses.
It is exactly what it is: a strong waterproof capsule made from acetal plastic. Spent a bit of time cleaning the flashing from the milled markings. Smells to high heaven, despite cleaning with dish soap, IPA, and airing out. I moved the sealing ring from the inside of the cap to the male threads on the capsule. I store batteries in it for my various EDC gear.
