Very cool. No more fumbling around in the dark trying to find radio in tent is going to be nice. Have in bedroom now and it keeps glowing for hours.
I chose to get the glow in the dark case as my gp-7 is my designated emergency radio and should the power be unreliable I figured this would not only protect the case from a small drop but also make it easier to find.
The added benefit is that the extra thickness allows the top heavy GP-7 to stand easier and more stable.
The only negative aspects are that of course the radio wont fit in the nylon belt case or any kind of table top stand with the cover on, and the plastic clip on the back of the radio must be removed to properly install the silicone case.
Be careful removing the plastic clip... I didn't break mine but thought for sure I was going to hahaha it just snap fits on. I figured that out after dissecting the radio. No need to take the radio apart like I did. Just carefully pry it off.
The silicone case will slip over the radio even with the clip still attached but it will look kind of weird with a bulge in the back.
Overall, it's a great product and I'm glad I got it. Maybe not the choice for lots of travel with the GP series radios but it's a welcome addition to a base camp or home radio.
Glows all night, making my GP7 easy to find!
I'm proud to say that I am one of those who suggested this. There are times you want your GP-5/GP-7 visible at night.
When not on the radio (because you're using the black powder-coated aluminum exoskeleton for more rigid body protection), it still serves its purpose by providing a point of visual reference in total darkness you can read by.
Hopefully CountyComm will make it all glow...keep offering your silicone products with the option of the glow in the dark variation!
