This isn't the thing to attach to your keychain. I have one of those, but it takes much more effort to get good sparks off that one. THIS one is so impressive I bought a second one to keep in my car along with a few other necessaries so I always have at least two ways of making fire when I need it. It seems slightly softer than my keychain version (from somewhere else) and throws larger sparks that last longer. Think a sparkler in slow motion! Sure it's a weighty thing but it is entirely reliable. Thanks again, County Comm, for having the good stuff.
Well packaged for a emrgency kit. Sparksaplenty
Massive says it all, that thing is big, comes in a nice box with striker, what's not to like?
This is exactly what it says it is. It is a pretty fantastic add to my long term camping kit. The vault is basically the same kind of plastic container that a lot of machining tools are delivered in. That's not a bad thing, its just a fact. The rod is large and you can get a lot of sparks out of it when you use it.
I’ve been getting End of the Year gifts to my Cub Scouts from County Comm for the past 3 years and you never disappoint. The boys always get excited and I’m happy because not only are the items cool, they’re also very useful.
This fire starting kit is no exception. We actually just used it to start our bon fires this past weekend and I was surprised at how intense the sparks were and their duration. They easily lit some dryer lint and tinder and we had a roaring bon fire in no time.
