World's best digital shortwave general purpose, 4 -band shortwave receiver ( We think so... )
Amazing for emergency kits. It also makes an excellent monitor for when you're transmitting and tuning a HAM rig!
The new GP-5 SSB radio is made based on a continued request for an excellent quality general purpose information radio. These radios are re-modified for a specific client request with the help of Edison Fong PHD. We have a few left over to offer to our consumer preppers. Remember, always have a radio and be prepared, we are living in changing times.
CountyComm is pleased to announce the GP-5/SSB radio with excellent HF communications monitoring in a unique handheld form factor and at a great price. The radio covers medium wave 520-1710 kHz shortwave 2300-30000 kHz and the FM band. Unlike most radios in this price category, the GP-5/SSB provides LSB and USB single sideband reception. It has a very unique Easy Tuning Mode (ETM). ETM does more the usual ATS. It scans all frequencies without taking up the memory spaces. So you get quick access to all local stations. Great for the traveler. There are also 450 regular memories (100 AM, 100 FM and 250 shortwave) available for tuning into your favorite stations. Another unique feature of the radio is its removable high sensitivity external AM ferrite antenna. This directional antenna clearly enhances AM band reception. The CountyComm GP-5/SSB even employs DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology, improving clarity and tone quality. There is even an adjustable sleep timer.
THE NEW GP-5 SSB IS GREATLY IMPROVED OVER THE LEGENDARY GP-4L & GP-5 DSP. THIS RADIO HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REDESIGNED BY OUR ENGINEERS AND THE FACTORY TO BE AN IMPORTANT PART OF BOTH YOUR SURVIVAL KIT AND YOUR FUN KIT. THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS RADIO SURPASSES RADIOS COSTING 2-3 TIMES MORE.

It's always a good idea to have a backup antenna.

When you're away from your base doesn't mean you can't tune in if you've got this great little radio. Very frequently accurate tuning and for as small a radio with an undersized antenna still very signal sensitive.
Seems like a quality radio. Very packable. Desperately needs number buttons to put In desired frequency. Case is high quality as well
I 'm a ham operator who is also involved in official emergency communications for my county. This radio is a real gem and I always have it available for monitoring HF nets while I'm mobile and portable. It's very sensitive and has decent audio for its size; using earbuds only makes listening better.
Great memory management and band access with enough slots to make getting on frequency a breeze. SSB works excellently and I haven't encountered a signal that I couldn't lock on to. One wish- would be for FM on 10m to listen to some of the repeaters...a minor note and not important to many out there and slope detection works OK.
This is my second GP5 having gifted a young ham student with one on achieving his general ticket. Looking to possibly go for number three for another student. They totally love the device and want to borrow it for listening in on HF QSOs.
The belt clip case is great and really makes this a true go-bag item; ultimately portable, helping to make remote ops simple and effective.
I recommend this for hams and SWLs alike, it's fun and effective. A great display and other features round out a terrific little receiver.
I have bought several of these radios for myself and family members. They are excellent radios with a full gamut of accessories. I’m not reviewing the radio since you can read detailed reviews of the GP-5 SSB (3rd Gen) and watch videos of it being demonstrated by clicking on the product. It was a genius idea to package them in the Mylar bags for long term storage and future emergency use.
